The Minister of the environment and Climate Change issued an order under section 36 of the Clean Water Act to prepare a workplan to review the Cataraqui Source Protection Plan and associated source protection documents to better reflect ongoing activities on the landscape.

The workplan is based on local knowledge, implementation challenges, and new information gathered since 2011. The purpose of the review is to build in new information to advance the understanding of risks to drinking water sources while incorporating local growth in the Cataraqui area. The workplan is to be submitted to the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change on or before November 30, 2018.

The update includes 10 priority items for consideration as part of a comprehensive review to enhance local source protection documents by including new information, addressing implementation challenges, incorporating climate changes, enhancing understanding of risks on the landscape, and including local growth and development to ensure the protection and groundwater and surface water supplies and users.

A draft copy of the workplan can be found here.
